Caring for Your Contrology® Springs

Contrology® Springs are crafted to preserve the authentic feel, function and sound of the original Pilates apparatus. These springs are unplated to maintain historical authenticity, and a small amount of surface rust is normal. It does not indicate a defect. Perspiration, natural skin oils and room humidity can contribute to this natural oxidation process.

To help maintain your Springs, keep them as dry as possible and store springs in a low-humidity environment when not in use.

If surface rust appears, use a dry Scotch-Briteâ„¢ pad to gently scrub the affected area. Then wipe the Spring thoroughly with a clean, dry cloth to remove any debris. Repeat this process as needed.

For more persistent surface rust, you may also apply a small amount of mineral oil to a cloth and gently rub the Spring. This can help remove rust, but it may leave behind a light oily residue. Wipe away as much oil as possible after application, repeating as needed. Note that oil can migrate to outside of Spring, and you may feel some oil on your hands when changing Springs.

With simple, regular care, your Contrology Springs will deliver the distinctive resistance, sound and feel that are central to the classical Pilates experience.
